  2. On the east coast, from north-east to south-east, climate is equatorial and steamy and the straight sea-cost is every year exposed to the trade wind as well to crushing cyclones from January to March.
  3. The vast western region is less rainy and characterized by its immeasurable savannas with temperatures from 10°C up to 37°C.
  4. In the middle of the island, the highlands are situated between 1200 and 1500 meters, the climate is a subtropical one with summers rain falls and average temperatures of 20°C.
  5. The extreme south is the driest part of Madagascar with few rain falls. Temperature amplitude is high, from 6°C to 40°C, climate is a sub-desert one.
